Entrance through JEE: Beginning 2013 the IIT JEE and AIEEE entrance examinations have been replaced by the new Joint Entrance Exam (JEE Main) to be conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). Apart from being the first stage exam for entry into the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), the JEE (Main) will be conducted for entry to National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and centrally-funded colleges of Architecture.

Deemed institutions of Architecture and all institutions which have been approved by AICTE will select student’s base on JEE Main. The weight age to Board examinations will be as per the discretion of top universities for mab in India. The varsities would have the freedom to choose appropriate weight ages for performance in Class XII Boards and the main exam normalized on percentile basis.
The states of Goa, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Haryana and West Bengal have also agreed to select students for through the new JEE. Weight age given to Class XII board marks will be decided by the states e.g. Maharashtra will give 50% weight age to Board Examinations. Separate merit lists will be drawn for states that want to admit students on the basis of JEE scores. Question papers will also be printed in regional languages on demand.

Three attempts to qualify the new Joint Entrance Examination (Main) will be allowed. The IIT JEE from 2013 will be a two-tier exam - main and advanced. Main exam will be a screening exam. The three-hour exam will have objective type questions and multiple-choice questions. For each wrong answer, one-fourth of a mark will be cut, but there will be no deductions for not attempting.

Candidates who want to take admission in B Arch/ B Planning courses at NITs, IIITs, DTU and other centrally funded technical institutes (CFTIs) will be able to give the second test (equivalent to Paper II of AIEEE) only in offline mode. This test will also be held on the same day as the JEE Main, 2013.

(ORS) of the students will be available to them online. For All Architecture colleges score on the National Aptitude Test conducted under the aegis of Council of Architecture New Delhi is required. It measures the aptitude in specific areas such as drawing, observation skills, and sense of proportion, critical thinking and aesthetic sensitivity needed for a career in Architecture. This test has been prescribed as compulsory criteria for taking admission into an Architecture college in India.      

Employment is available with Air India, Pawn Hans, Helicopter Corporation of India and flying clubs, private airlines and government owned air service. Besides airlines, aeronautical engineers get employment in organizations such as Hindustan Aeronautical Ltd, Defense Research and Development Laboratories, National Aeronautical Lab, Aeronautical Development Establishment, Civil Aviation Department or top universities for mba in abroad and other places.
An increase in research and development facilities within the country offers challenging prospects to aeronautical professionals in fields such as missile development, civil and military aircraft manufacture etc.

Aeronautical Engineering can be pursued offering the mechanical and electronics branches as specialized areas of study. Minimum requirement for sitting in the entrance test of the colleges is science subjects (physics, mathematics) at the 10+2 stage. Admission to IIT is by the Joint Entrance Test (JEE- Main). Further specialization can be pursued at the post-graduate level. Diploma holders in aircraft maintenance engineering can acquire degrees on clearing the exams of the Aeronautical Society of India.
