Common Admission Test (CAT) - one of the most sought after and highly competitive entrance exams in the world is the gateway to the apex B-schools - 19 IIMs and 100+ non IIM institutes in the country.

The level of difficulty is hard and it takes a thorough preparation to do well in the exam. The selection to the 13 IIMs is based on the CAT scores and three rounds - Written Ability Test (WAT), Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI). The rounds are carried out to narrow down candidates for final selection. Also know best iit coaching institutes in delhi and top iit coaching institute

Going by the past trends, 6 older IIMs - IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, IIM Calcutta, IIM Lucknow, IIM Indore and IIM Kozhikode have 98+ score as their cut off. While other 7 new IIMs established at Rohtak, Shillong, Ranchi, Raipur, Trichy, Kashipur and Udaipur have a cut-off score that ranges from 90 to 98.

Rest of the 6 IIMs comes into the 'newer' category. These institutes have been either established this year or are yet to be established. The cut offs to be released by these IIMs can be anticipated to be set little low. This is because the IIMs are not so popular now and do not have any records to match reputation of the old-established IIMs.

The newer IIMs are located at Nagpur, Bodhgaya, Visakhapatnam, Amritsar, Sambalpur and Sirmaur.
Apart from the 19 IIMs, 100+ premier B-schools carry out admission on the basis of CAT scores. Some of the popular names are Faculty of Management Studies, NITIE Mumbai, Shailesh J Mehta School of Management, MDI Gurgaon and Fore School of Management. The cut off released by these B-schools is also high, usually set above 90.
